Whether your heart is set on Becker or you're still on the fence about your college choice, our Accepted Students Day is designed to give our applicants one last look at what it's like to be a Hawk. Here are a few things to look forward to and tips for making the absolute most of your visit on April 24.
Meet other students. Use this opportunity to meet as many potential classmates as possible. (That's what college is all about!) Getting to know other applicants, as well as our current students, will give you a better sense of your fit on campus.
Speak with faculty from your program. Have you heard all you need to know about the program and the curriculum? What about the extracurriculars, like study abroad opportunities and the facilities available to you? These are the people that know your program best, so don't hesitate to ask them questions.
Tour the residence halls. Sure, you've probably already gone on a tour or two. But as an accepted student, you'll want to pay special attention to the particulars. How big would your room be? Is there space for your favorite bean bag chair? What's the view from the window like? (Now that the weight of an admissions decision is off your shoulders, these questions become a lot more important.)
Learn about academic support services. Becker's Collaborative Learning Center (CLC) offers group tutoring sessions, study groups, and workshops for our students...free of charge! Ask for more information about their scheduling and appointment policies, hours, and services—you never know when you'll need another set of eyes for proofreading a paper or a partner for reviewing flashcards.
Explore internship opportunities. Before you know it, you'll be searching for your first internship. Talk to the staff in the Center for Career Education about the resources they provide, like resume and cover letter reviews and career courses. When it's time to start your internship or job search, you'll be happy to have their support.
