Presidential Speaker Series: Why You'll Want to Attend

Posted by Sandy Lashin-Curewitz | April 13, 2016

At the core of Becker College is a firm belief in the value of a global education (one that teaches academic excellence, social responsibility, and creative expression). All of us here work hard to make sure that each of our students, regardless of program, builds a strong foundation in global learning. So, how exactly do we do that?

One way we encourage global learning is through our host of on-campus events, like the Presidential Speaker Series, which offer a unique opportunity to hear from influencers, thought leaders, and change makers firsthand.

Yunus.jpgJust last week, the Becker community welcomed Professor Muhammad Yunus, or the "Father of Microfinance." He pioneered the concept of social business and has been recognized with more than 100 awards, including the Nobel Peace Prize. (If his name sounds familiar, this could be why.)

Here are a few reasons why, as a Becker student, you'll want to take advantage of the Presidential Speaker Series and similar globally inspired events. You'll gain:

  • insight on the future of the world, as it pertains to education, health, sustainability, and more,
  • an understanding of the histories of others, and
  • the ability to communicate effectively across cultures.
Come graduation, you'll be regarded as a highly educated and responsible citizen, with the preparation you need to fill a growing demand for cross-culturally trained professionals and to lead in our global society.

We hope we'll see you at a future Presidential Speaker Series! If you haven't already, apply to Becker. Our optional essay and recommendation letter make the application process easy.
