Happy holidays from all of us at Becker College! Did you know that Becker students perform more than 80,000 hours of community service each year? With that said, we know our students will be dedicating some of their time off to give back to those less fortunate, and as a potential future Hawk, we hope you will, too. Here are a few simple ways you can do so this holiday season:
1. Volunteer your time. Reach out to a local food bank or pantry and offer to transport goods between agencies, distribute food to the hungry, or just spread a little holiday cheer to those who could use it. Even a few hours of your time is a big help for these organizations, who tend to be busiest around the holidays.
2. Donate items. Sift through your drawers, closet, and bookshelf and set aside the clothes, shoes, books, or games that you don't use or wear anymore. Bag up the items and find a collection bin near you to pass them along to someone in need.
3. Perform a random act of kindness. Commonly referred to as RAK, a small random act of kindness can make a big difference in someone else's day—without making a dent in your wallet. Want a few ideas? Send a handwritten note to someone special, pay the toll for the car behind you, or buy coffee for a stranger.
