Did You Know...March '15 Edition

Posted by Sandy Lashin-Curewitz | March 23, 2015

Prospective students, admitted students, parents... Anyone interested in attending Becker (or sending their students here!) can get a wealth of information on the College by visiting our website, contacting Admissions, or visiting the campuses. But in between all that in-depth info, we like to serve up a list of fast facts in random order each month to give you quick glimpses into student life and more. Here's the latest list!

Did You Know...March

  • In this year's MassDiGI Game Challenge, Play Nimbus—a student start-up from Becker College—won the College Demo/Alpha Category for Private Eyes, a murder mystery party game. Also from Becker, Maximum Crash took home the award for the College Beta/Near Release Category with Starlot Derby, a game that involves the player battling an alien species in a game of baseball.
  • Several of us just got back from a fantastic service learning trip in Petersfield, Jamaica. The event was organized by Prof. Debra Pallatto-Fontaine and our global partner, Amizade.
  • This April, another team is embarking on a second weekend trip to Boston to work with the homeless population. Global citizenship is part of our core values, and students find experiences like these to be life-changing.
  • On February 19, comedian hypnotist Jim Spinnato stopped by Daniels Hall on the Leicester Campus for a hilarious, entrancing night of entertainment. Our students loved it!
  • Also in February, we hosted an event called "Pizza with the Pros" for our sophomore students. Juniors and seniors dished out advice on how to protect yourself from the "sophomore slump," how to prepare for midterms, and how to set yourself up for success as a sophomore.
  • Our Worcester Campus is in the center of so much fun. From the DCU Center to the Hanover Theatre, the Palladium to Elm Park, take a look at the top 10 things to do in New England's second largest city here.

'Til next month!
