Want to talk business with professionals in the field? Interested in gaining career insight from mentors who know the market? Eager to build your entrepreneurial network right away? If business is your area of interest, find out how Becker College's LinkUP initiative—designed specifically for business-minded students like you—helps you accomplish all of that from day one.
What is LinkUP?
The Becker Business Mentoring Program, also called Link Undergraduates to Professionals (LinkUP), is co-sponsored by the Business Department, the Center for Career Education, and the Becker College Alumni Association.
Through LinkUP, Becker's business majors are connected with professionals in their field to gain insight on the profession, receive guidance on mastering business-related skills, and adapt an industry view on combining curricular and co-curricular knowledge in the workplace.
What can LinkUP do for my education?
While your academic advisor works with you to choose your courses and build a schedule that satisfies your degree requirements, your LinkUP business mentor acts as your connection to the industry. The Bureau of Labor Statistics estimates that more than 70 percent of jobs are found through networking, so you'll start building your network early—through meetings with your mentor and lessons on presentation skills, communication, and professional etiquette.
The best part is, over the course of your mentorship, you and your mentor will form a mutually beneficial understanding of the future of business.
How can I become a LinkUP mentee?
As a business student at Becker with a minimum GPA of 2.0, you can submit a LinkUP application with one letter of recommendation from a Becker faculty or staff member. As a mentee, you'll be expected to commit seven hours per semester to building your relationship with your mentor and developing your personal career strategy.
